Solution 1: Run the CS5 Cleaner Tool. The CS5 Cleaner Tool can clean up CS3 installations, as well. For instructions, see Resolve installation. I have been trying to install Adobe CS3 on a computer that previously only had Adobe Illustrator. I uninstalled all the previous Adobe.

Eventually I finally did get it installed and have had no further problems. Interpretation isn’t for the faint of heart, but searching for “Operation complete.
